What to expect

  • Pick-up can be at any address in Cancun, Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen. If staying in a hotel with a security gate, please advise Señor Travel Bug in advance of your room number which will be required to gain access and pick you up.

  • Visit the Mayan Museum in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone. See displays of artefacts found in the state of Quintana Roo Mayan sites, and explanations of the development of the first civilisation in the Americas. Learn about the importance of the Mayans, the first written script in the Americas, their mathematical and scientific advance, and mastery of astronomy.

  • Stroll around the small archaeological site of San Miguelito, once a Mayan fishing village and later a coconut plantation until the development of Cancun as a tourist destination. See the small structures, and understand how these were factored into the construction of Cancun’s hotel zone.

  • Stroll around the small archaeological site next to Puerto Juarez, the earliest modern settlement around which touristy Cancun was developed. The highlight is a pyramid over 14 metres in height beside the beautiful Caribbean and with stunning views over to Isla Mujeres.

  • Enjoy lunch and a natural soft drink made from fresh fruits in a Cancun locals’ favourite restaurant. Starting out as a window in a wall, this Yucatecan Mayan specialist restaurant had become a big success and will transport you through its food to neighbouring Yucatan without the long drive.

  • The tour will deliver you back to your pick-up point (or any other destination in Cancun, Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen if preferred)
