About Tour
Travel in Mexico’s most iconic classic car, the VW Beetle (or an Audi), to see the many sides of life and hidden secrets of Cancun. Depending on pick-up location and your wishes we will visit either an iconic or a virgin beach in Cancun, a Mayan archaeological site, a unique church in an oasis of tranquil and calm, the tourist heart of the hotel zone and the downtown area where the locals and many Mexican tourists sample street food, dance and are entertained by their kids or street entertainers.

The tour does not include dinner. The guide will make a recommendation of a restaurant or or items of local Mexican food after understanding your preferred tastes and budget.
Pick-up can be at any address in Cancun, Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen. If staying in a hotel with a security gate, please advise Señor Travel Bug in advance of your room number which will be required to gain access and pick you up.
You will stroll along the beach, marvelling at the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, perhaps dipping into the water yourself along with the pelicans! If at Playa Delfines, see how the Mexicans spend their days at the beach, and take your photo with the iconic ‘CANCUN’ letters. If at Isla Blanca, enjoy some wildlife spotting, dip in the laguna and/or the Caribbean and scramble over the dunes by the last virgin beach in Cancun, seeing how this area all looked 55 years ago.
Visit the small archaeological site of El Meco, on the Cancun coast, boasting the highest pyramid in this local region, at nearly half the height of the main pyramid at Chichen Itza. The site was occupied from 600-1500AD, part of Coba’s empire until around 800, and then a site guarding entry to Isla Mujeres. Until Cancun’s planned design in 1970, the area where this site is located, Puerto Juarez, was the only settlement in what is today one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations.
Wander around the church and grounds of this spectacular church, with its very very special atmosphere. Dedicated to the hard work of maintaining healthy strong relationships, this church has developed a strong community and aside from any spiritual connection you may feel, is a beautiful location with some beautiful traditions despite being constructed only since 2015. Tour with us to see what we mean. On the drive to this location you will see how the majority of Cancun’s locals live.
Drive through, or perhaps stop and grab a drink to watch from the periphery how the tourists enjoy the heart of Cancun’s party zone. See the bright lights and costumes of Coco Bongo, La Vaquita, Mandala Bay and other Cancun nightlife institutions.
Drive through the marina and port of Puerto Cancun, to see where and how the ‘other half’ live, among their yachts, Prada stores, bars and upscale restaurants.
Wander around Parque las Palapas, and visit the town hall for Cancun. In the main square, admire the way local Mexicans and Mexican tourists truly love life and bring joy. Experience that joy yourself while listening to street musicians, watching kids play in motorised cars or with fountains, and try a few items of local street food.
The tour will deliver you back to your pick-up point (or any other destination in Cancun, Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen if preferred)
